What I don’t understand is why Judge Newcombe abandoned his position with six months left on a six-year term? This is common. Why don’t judges serve out the complete term voters elected them to (unless they are ill)?
After 31 years, Judge Newcombe decided to retire early so he could enjoy the summer. Actually, this is not common for instance Judge Caprathe will serve out his last term to the very last day on December 31, 2010. As to why Judge’s do not serve out the whole term they were elected to Judge’s usually don’t care what the voters think. Judge Newcombe, for instance, will never run for elected office again.
